THE LADY OF SHALOTT
PATIENCE/CARING

Personally, when i read this poem I did not find a clear conexion with patience or caring but I did notice how it is related to freedom, physically ,mentally and artisticly.

The story is about a woman who lived in a castle and makes a descision to leave that place and eventually dies. But is there a deeper meaning behind it?.
The tower is located in an island, in a river, practically rounded by 4 great walls and 4 great towers, almost like she was living in a box,she has a curse and knows leaving would lead to her death, but if you leave in a box what is life anyway?. Maybe is better leave and die than to leave in captivity. Freedom, have adventures, engage wih regular life experiences even if it kills you seems worth it.Living life in your own terms instead of quietly live in a sheltered existence that wasn´t her choice.
At the same time, maybe what she is doing is leaving the pieces of the images she sees truogh her window. So the advantage point where the perspective of her art comes from will disappear, if you like to make art you need to be pull back from the world in order to comment on it, maybe leaving is the death of her creative self, going into an ordinary life.
What if is the opposite? What if the leaving shes doing is frustating, as she says "im half sick of shadows¨.As she creates art from second hand experiences, instead of her own using her mirror, because she is not even allow to look at the window.People come and go and she sees nothing directly. So maybe she wanted to experience things by herself to be able to create genuine art.
As she leaves and paints her name in the boat she starts dying slowly going down the camelot river, people find her death body. Also the meaaning of this poem can be reflect on how people at that time used to live,a culture that forced them to limit themselves.Endured in a prision represented at the castle, nowdays offcorss, there is a lot of women still facing very little freedoom.
Simunstaniouly the castle coould be a safe place to develop herlsef and not mix too much of the world, almost like a muk or nun; to pull out of society for a good cause, because society is full of senseless eventual  pleasures like chasing after this knight, but compromises her spiritual growth, instead of staying at that high level in the castle, she desenses to those peasures, moving her energy down into the sexual centers. In this perspective she would be better off staying in the tower, staying eoved from the world, because as soon she is out she is tempted, in the world of the body instead of the spirit and sacrificing her spiritual self for the material self, a bad deal, so she dies spiritaully and physically as well.

In conclusión Tnnyson´s poem portaits very beautifully the trials and tribulations of women in the past and how they were tamed of expresing and living their lives to the fullest extend.
