TRUSTWORTHNESS/THANKFUL
APPLIED TO: FROM THE
DIARY OF SAMUEL PEPYS”.
The story that Samuel Pepys
relates takes place at the 1600s in the city of London. The autor has a very
descriptive narrative, because his dairy wasn´t menat to be seen by the public,
therefore all the information found there is raw and shows his thoughts and
explains everything that happens to him and the people around him. From this
perspective in my personal oipinion, Samuel is a trustworthy autor at least in
this text, because everything he wrote was transparent and real, which I
appreciate as a reader.
At the begining of the story the autor
seem thankful for being present at the coronation of the King, a great momento for
London´s history.Samuel was a high status man, since he worked as a secretary
for the navy, due to this he was very involved with the Crown and the military,
he recorded everything he experienced as a part of it in his diary as well.
When Pepys starts talking about
the great fire and great plague which were devasting events for the population
of London at the time, regardless Samuel shows no emphathy for the village, He
just laid back and observe their suffering. It shows how self centred and
narcissist he was.
At the diary´s second half when
his bussines wasn´t doing well and people from the navy close to him started
dying all this because the Great Fire he seem sad and overwhelmed, all due
because ithis lawas directly affecting him. This once again shows his lack of
values and emphathy.
At the end of the record he
expresses that women and music are his favorite things and relates explicit
information about the affairs he had but
still insiste don how much he loved his wife and all the things she did for
him, such as taking care of him and cooking his favorites meals. This in
particular is a clear example of how he was not trustworthy man.If he swears to
love his wife, why would he even think about cheating?. Once again because his
lack of values.
This diary is poured up with
Pepys experiences and real thoughts figures out the way he saw the world, how
important materials things were for him, his achivements for the navy were more
important than compassion, trust and honesty which for me are the things in life
that matter the most.
